The Snowshoeing Fitness Dividend

Snowshoeing at any level is good for your body. At its most fundamental, this low-impact activity also boasts an injury rate so low that injuries are not even an issue. Spills tend to be gentle, and because every step and stride is different, muscles and joints are not even susceptible to the kind of overuse or repetitive motion problems that plague participants in such other sports as running, tennis and mogul skiing. In fact, as soon as suitable equipment became commonly available, serious runners discovered snowshoeing to be an outstanding winter trainer for their summer sport.
